Neither of us had ever been to the famous city of New Orleans so we were sure to make this one of our final stops of the trip. While the weather was overcast and a bit wet, it was still fairly warm and we had a great time wandering around the French Quarter, checking out the NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Art, not the restaurant in Copenhagen), visiting the National WWII Museum (didn’t know that was in New Orleans) and catching some great live music and nightlife (of course). Although construction was still very noticeable in the city (even more than 10 years after Hurricane Katrina), it looked like a lot of areas had been repaired and refurbished and the French Quarter was beautiful. Here are some images from our daily walks through the area.
The NOMA had a pretty fun exhibition on American folk art called “Untrained Geniuses” and an amazing sculpture garden. We were also lucky to catch the first Jazz in the Park night at Louis Armstrong Park and went on to see a few other bands at Frenchmen Street including Washboard Chaz (see last picture below).
