A fantastic burger for those who don’t eat lobster. At Burger & Lobster in New York they don’t need a menu since they only serve 3 items: burger and lobster (whole or roll)

We had a great experience standing at the bar in the middle of the action. The place was bustling with waiters yelling orders and running back and forth

But the highlight was the amazing authentic tapas

The meat sampler platter at a very local grill (one of the cooks offered to come out from the kitchen and translate the menu for us)

A little local restaurant serving cachorros – translated as hotdog, but in reality a grilled sausage melt with a spicy secret sauce and butter. Mmm

There was a festival at the Serralves Contemporary Art Museum our first night in Porto. Here Alex had a hotdog with shoe string potatoes, shaved carrots and lettuce. Sadly, it looks a lot better than it actually was

On the other hand, this merguez sausage was fantastic

Dinner at Restaurant Le Ratelier (May 13) We had our best meal of the trip so far at the little restaurant/hotel, Auberge Le Ratelier, where we stayed in Carnac, France. It was an amazing bargain for three delicious courses (plus amuse bouche and petit four) paired with a local Muscadet sur lie (the first time that either of us had tried this type of wine, a perfect match for the fish). Inside Pizza Victoria. A little out of the way, but well worth the walk.

A delicious local Bordeaux paired with quite possibly the best burger in France

100% boeuf d’origine France, buns artisanaux, sauce maison

In the unlikely event that you ever find yourself in Rochefort, try this pizza. Fantastic!
